Something you may not know about me (and the only way you wouldn’t know this is if you don’t know me at all) is that I avoid groups of people at all cost. OK, the “at all cost” part is a bit of an exaggeration but I’m definitely not a fan of large crowds.
The fact that my favorite place on Earth, Big Bend National Park (2nd only to the Walt Disney World Resorts in Orlando, Florida… I know, goes against my initial claim but I’ll go in to that in another post!) is one of the least frequented national parks in our country is just reason #10201230 why I love the area.
My first trip out to BBNP was in my teens with my friends and some of their family. Since then, I’ve been hooked and have tried to make it out annually since 2009.
I post about BBNP today because the amount of inspiration I draw from exploring the park is second to no other location on Earth (albeit, I am making that claim and admitting that I haven’t explored much of the Earth at all). In fact, my retreats to the Chisos provide me with a much appreciated and forced sabbatical from my electronics as there isn’t any cell reception or internet where I hike in the park so I couldn’t be tied to my devices even if I wanted to be!
I don’t have a firm date set for my BBNP 2016 trip but I’m hoping to get out there sometime around my birthday in early November. Hit me up if you’d like to go!
Below is some footage I captured from my 2015 trip. I STILL haven’t finished editing all the footage but there’s so much more I want to capture before making a finalized video that I’m not sure I’ll even have it completed by the end of this year.
